1- Desmond Mpilo Tutu Birth:
Famous African social reformer Desmond Mpilo Tutu was born on 7th October 1931 in Klerksdorp, a city of South Africa. He was born in a poor family.
2- South African Archbishop:
Desmond was mainly known as a famous and gentle Archbishop from South Africa. He was known for his kind works to the apartheid people from South Africa.
3- His Wife:
Desmond Tutu was married to Nomalizo Leah Tutu. He has many children with Nomalizo Leah Tutu. Tutu and his wife both were the teacher.
4- First Archbishop of the Cape town:
He was the first African Black Archbishop to the Cape town city from 1986 to 1996. He had been trained from the King’s College, University of London.
5- As a Teacher:
Desmomd Tutu started his journey as a teacher. He taught in too many Universities of other countries also like University of Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho.
6- Voice for Voiceless:
In Africa, Desmond Tutu was known as the ‘Voice of Voiceless’. He was a big opponent of the apartheid in South Africa. He had risen his voices against the basic problems of the common people of south Africa throughout his life.
7- Nobel Peace Prize:
He was honoured with Nobel Peace Prize for the year 1984. Previously in the year 1981, 1982 and 1983, he was nominated for the Nobel peace prize but won in 1984 along with 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.
8- Favour of Gay People:
After apartheid, Desmond Tutu was in favour of Gay people. He used to say that discrimination with Gay people is equal to the discrimination with black people.
9- Time for the Family:
In October 2010, He announced about his retirement. He announced that now he would be retire from all the positions and would spend time with his family, books and other works.
10- Died:
In the history of Africa an African black people, he was as a boon. On 26th December 2021, Desmond Tutu was died in Cape Town in the age of 90.
