Mount Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepal, Qomolangma in Tibetan, Deodungha in China and beside these there are many local names of the Mount Everest also.

In British Era Mount Everest was named after the British Surveyor ‘Sir George Everest’ as there were so many local names at that time and it was very difficult to choose anyone of them.

Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay was the first person to conquer the mountain on 29th May 1953. Edmund Hillary was the first person to step on the Mount Everest.

The Mount Everest is almost 60 million years old and still growing. It grows on average 44 millimetre every year.
First Wedding on the peak of this mountain:
Nepali couple Moni Mulepati (23) and Prem Dorji (24) got married on the top of the mountain in 2005 and thus they made a world record of being first couple to marry on the Mount Everest.
The Mountain is a graveyard of the climbers:
It is correct that this massive mountain is the graveyards for its climbers. There are more than 200 dead bodies on the way of the mountain. They are used as the landmarks as it is very tough task to bring them down from that height.
2 o’clock Rule for Climbing:
If you are planning to conquer this mountain then you must have to know about this rule. 2 o’clock rule is very important for every climber. It is said that if you reach the top of mountain by 2 pm then its good but if you unable to reach there till 2 pm then you should return and try again because it may put you in trouble.

On an average more than 500 mountaineer climb this mountain every year and due to this, Mount Everest has been dirtiest mountain of the world as there are so much waste.
